The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Monday challenged an Islamabad High Court (IHC) verdict suspending sentences given to former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Capt (r) Safdar in the Avenfield properties reference by an accountability court.
On Sept 19, the IHC had suspended sentences of the three and ordered their release. In the petition filed in the Supreme Court, the anti-graft body stated that the IHC did not correctly examine the evidence in the case, pleading the apex court to declare the high court decision null and void.
