LAHORE: The University of Lahore (UOL) Tuesday held 7th Convocation at its main campus and conferred degrees on 4,824 students.
The ceremony was marked with deep appreciation from teachers, parents and high motivation by UOL Board of Governor Chairman Awais Raoof, MA Raoof (Patron IET), Vice Chancellor Dr MH Qazi and Brigadier (r) Ajaib (Member BoG).
A total of 4,824 students, including 2,781 bachelors, 1,189 masters, 851 postgraduates and three PhDs, were awarded degrees at the convocation.
Also 123 gold medals were given to position holders for exceptional academic excellence.
Awais Raoof welcomed the guests, and congratulated graduates and their parents. He said that the UOL started its journey of knowledge in 1999, and now it has made remarkable achievements by dint of its groundbreaking research and quality education. He added, “It was quite challenging to transform the UOL into a general category university, but now we are working towards internalisation for which a set-up in Sudan and Uganda has already been initiated.”
Awais Raoof termed UOL students brand ambassador’s of the university, reflecting the cultural academic and intellectual heritage of the UOL not only in Pakistan but all over the world. The BOG chairman mentioned successful range of various conferences recently held at the university on the themes of health sciences, allied health sciences and engineering and technology.
Present among others were Punjab Minister of Higher Education Raza Ali Gillani, MNAs Sheikh Ria, Muhammad Afzal and Dr. Zulfiqar Ali Bhatti, and MPA Malik Iqbal.
Later, the chief guest gave away degrees, prizes and medals to students.
Besides, UOL Registrar Kamran Elahi, Controller Examination Asim Ali, deans, directors, students, parents, teachers and faculty members also attended the ceremony.
